While scouring the library for an adequate study space¬†(note: one with an outlet)¬†the other day, I got a¬†nostalgic vibe from¬†walking down the aisles and aisles¬†of books.¬†It reminded me of the cult high school tv show,¬†Freaks and Geeks. I binge watched the first season of it¬†on Netflix a couple of months ago… how else does one watch tv shows on Netflix? Then realized that the show was cancelled after one season. *Crying emoji*. It is¬†actually the perfect mix of funny/serious and so relatable to anyone who is trying to figure out school/life/themselves.

In other news, I finally found the perfect basic white tee from the Gap. The requirements of a perfect white tee include thin(but not see-through) fabric and fabric that drapes nicely, but mainly I just want a¬†loose fit¬†tee that doesn’t look like a tunic dress on me. #shortpplprobz. I also snagged this plaid button-up shirt while at the Gap since¬†it looks like something someone’s dad would wear in the 80s. (jk sorta)

If you have any 80s/90s/00s¬†tv recommendations, let me know¬†because I’m still depressed over Freaks and Geeks ending.

Hurray for dslr cameras. And finally not taking awkward iPhone ootd pics at home. A shapeless, baggy muscle tee: tie a marbleized shirt around it. Solution to all problems: tie a shirt around it. Feeling very grungy in my favourite muscle tee from the best concert of life via !!Grimes!! last year. The show was at Lee’s Palace, a smaller venue, which I prefer. The worst is going to a huge stadium and being 39228889 meters away from the artist. Some people think her vocals aren’t very good live, but I personally don’t expect/want a live show to be the same as listening to a produced record, I go for the atmosphere and experience. In any case, she’s awesome and I ‚̧ her. Her tumblr is cool too.

Some (all) people would call me a shoe-aholic. But I’m trying to live that minimalist life right now so I haven’t purchased shoes in a couple(lol) months. When Capezio shoes contacted me to tell me that I won their MTV Fora giveaway, I was literally astounded. Girls/guys, that’s 6 pairs of new shoes. Not to mention, I ordered 2 pairs of sandals the previous night so 8. pairs. of. new. shoes. These Shellys London sneaker heels were one of the prizes and they are seriously glowing right now. So amaze. Wow. I have to thank the shoe gods, Capezio Shoes and MTV Fora for making my shoe dreams come true!

And yes, hair is shorter. I love the asymmetrical one-length cut that my hair stylist from the Aveda hair school did. I’m still figuring out how I should style it but I’m probably the laziest person with my hair so airdrying4ever.¬†

Last week, a few friends and I went to Snakes and Lagers¬†to relax and get our game on.¬†If you have heard of Snakes and Lattes, it’s a similar concept except it’s a bar where you can play board games and grab a drink, the perfect pairing.

I felt like wearing my new Topshop top made of a neoprene-esque material that day. I’ve been lusting after a structured white top and this fulfilled all my *structured* and *minimalist*¬†desires. I really like the classic t-shirt and pants look for a casual evening out. And the heels totally speak for themselves.¬†

You know that feeling when you are just browsing a¬†random store, and there’s an amazing deal that you just can’t pass up? Yeah, that happened to me at every store I went to. When I went back home a couple of weeks ago, my friend and I decided to go thrifting. After 20 minutes of rummaging through the wracks, I stumbled upon this 100% leather “made in Britain” cross body purse. It was everything I wanted and for a measly $4, I snatched it right up.¬†

One of my favourite new items is the crisp white crop top from Garage. I love the unique crossover cut of the top which can be paired with every high waisted bottom ever. It’s still on sale for $6 on the website so ch-ch-check it out.

And Forever 21 had a buy one get one on their sale items, so who can resist that?

uniform no. 6 : don’t mesh with me

I have an obsession with tops that have a lot of holes in them. I currently own 4 mesh tops‚Ķand I have no regrets. They spice up any old outfit and adds some interest to the look.¬†I especially love this black mesh top because of the simple t-shirt cut and the beautiful crochet detailing at the front. It can be dressed up with a skirt or dressed down with jeans or leggings or *jeggings*¬†as I have done. I can’t seem to find a similar black mesh top to mine online but Nasty Gal carries a white version that is just as cool.

uniform no. 5: teen angst

Teen angst‚Ķ or young adult angst? I didn’t intend on looking so angry/worried/emo but I guess that’s what happens when you wear plaid, mesh, and leather. I’ve had this plaid chiffon dress for a couple of years but I didn’t wear it until I hacked off the bottom two ruffles because short people problems. Now it’s a cool midi length dress that can be worn with platform sneakers, heels, or flats.¬†

This weekend I attended Hot Docs, an annual international documentary film festival that takes place in Toronto. I enjoy the occasional documentary on Documentary Heaven or the Passionate Eye but I was blown away by the ones I saw at the festival this year. If you are interested, I saw The Overnighters, Return to Homs, Lady Valour, and Rich Hill. It was quite eye-opening to see people living in situations that were different from my own but I could still relate to the struggles and joys they felt on their journey (aka I shed many tears during all of them). For the summer, I have my eye on a new release at Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, Web Junkie, which is about the internet addiction as a clinical disorder in China.

Apologies on the blog neglect that’s been happening the past couple of weeks, I went back home for a while and I didn’t find an appropriate setting for my blog photos so I didn’t end up blogging. Hope you are all well¬† ¬†ūüôā x
